L&T Arterial Puncture Wrist

This project focused on developing a medical training device for practising arterial blood gas sampling and cannulation.

The aim was to create a realistic, durable, and reusable solution that replicates key anatomical features, helping medical professionals build confidence and accuracy in a safe training environment.

This project took two years from the initial brief to mass manufacturing of the final components. The R&D team consisted of three people, and I was responsible for fluid management and arm design. The main challenges we overcame included stab rates of arterial tubes, developing suitable ultrasound-compatible materials for cannulation, and achieving realistic wrist mobility for anatomically accurate training.
